Building the Fundraising, Government Relations & Public Funding Strategy for Taoist Communities
Dare to Change worked with the United Taoist Association of the Americas (UTAA) to develop an integrated roadmap for fundraising, government relations, program development, and future access to public and institutional funding. Rather than approaching fundraising as a series of individual opportunities, DTC helped UTAA establish a more structured strategy for building relationships, identifying funding pathways, and positioning the organization for sustainable resource development. As part of the engagement, DTC developed both a fundraising strategy and government relations framework, giving UTAA a roadmap for engaging elected officials, government agencies, institutional funders, and other community stakeholders. The strategy connected the organization’s mission and programming with broader community needs and potential funding priorities, while strengthening UTAA’s ability to build relationships before specific funding opportunities emerge. DTC also created a Program and Funding Matrix that mapped potential new programs against government and philanthropic funding streams. This allowed UTAA to assess opportunities based on mission alignment, community impact, fundability, implementation capacity, and long-term sustainability. Together, these tools created an organizational framework for moving from opportunity-based fundraising toward a more deliberate funding pipeline and stronger readiness for future public investment.
