$55K Secured for Filipino Legal Aid Services

Dare to Change supported the Filipino American Legal Defense and Education Fund (FALDEF) during a critical period of organizational reactivation and rebuilding. In Fiscal Year 2025, DTC helped FALDEF secure $25,000 in grant funding, representing the organization’s first grant following a period of limited activity. The funding helped restore FALDEF’s ability to deliver community-facing programming focused on immigrant rights, anti-deportation education, and access to legal and social-service resources. The initiative supported Know Your Rights workshops designed to connect immigrant community members across varying immigration statuses with critical information, legal resources, and community-based support.

DTC continued its grant development and program strategy support into Fiscal Year 2026, helping FALDEF successfully renew and increase the award from $25,000 to $30,000. The additional investment expanded FALDEF’s capacity to provide legal-aid workshops and clinics across New York City, strengthening access to immigration-related legal education, resources, and assistance.

Across FY2025 and FY2026, DTC helped FALDEF secure $55,000 in cumulative funding for its immigrant-rights and legal-service programming. More significantly, the engagement created continuity between FALDEF’s initial reactivation funding and its subsequent renewal, helping the organization move from restarting programs toward rebuilding a more consistent and sustainable community-service presence.
