Building City Mission’s Pathway to Public-Sector Growth

Dare to Change advises City Mission, Inc. on government relations, organizational growth, and the institutional infrastructure required to expand its work alongside New York City and New York State. The engagement has focused on helping City Mission move beyond approaching government solely for individual funding opportunities and toward building the broader capacity, positioning, and relationships necessary to participate more sustainably in the public-sector nonprofit ecosystem.

DTC developed government briefing decks, program presentations, discretionary funding requests, and supporting communications that translated City Mission’s programs, populations served, community needs, growth priorities, and funding requirements into clear materials for public-sector stakeholders. These resources created a reusable government-relations infrastructure that City Mission could use across briefings, funding conversations, partnership development, and future expansion efforts.

The strategy connected program development, government engagement, funding requests, procurement readiness, and organizational capacity into a more coordinated pathway toward public investment. By strengthening both City Mission’s external positioning and the infrastructure behind its programs, DTC helped the organization build a stronger foundation for future government partnerships, public funding opportunities, and long-term institutional growth.
