Developing A National AAPI Collegiate Policy Agenda
Following the national research report, DTC developed Power at the Polls: A Policy Blueprint for AAPI Civic Strength, an eight-page policy brief that organized the research into defined policy areas. The brief addressed topics including language access and voter assistance, voter protection, civic education, representation and leadership development, and the relationship between these issues and Asian American Greek-letter organizations.
The policy brief was structured around a clear progression: the problem, supporting data, potential policy actions, and implications for Asian Greek life. This gave NAPA a resource that could translate a much larger research project into a more focused policy document while showing how broader civic-policy questions intersect with the experiences of members, families, campuses, and community networks.
By creating a policy product separate from the research report, DTC helped NAPA move from understanding what respondents reported toward identifying concrete areas for further organizational and policy consideration. The engagement demonstrated how community research could be converted into a more structured framework for education, institutional planning, and public-policy discussion.
