Building a Multi Program Model for AAPI Youth Leadership & Development
DTC helped develop Ascend Beyond’s core program architecture around several interconnected areas of youth and community development. Mental Health & Well Being programming was structured around culturally responsive wellness education, stigma reduction, peer connection, identity, and access to supportive resources. Women’s Leadership programming incorporated mentorship, confidence building, communication, career readiness, leadership circles, and opportunities for young women to strengthen their personal and professional leadership skills.
DTC also developed programming around Entrepreneurship & Innovation, including financial literacy, business and startup education, mentorship, professional development, and pathways for participants to turn ideas into viable projects or ventures. Sports Leadership & Development was structured around physical wellness, teamwork, discipline, confidence, community connection, and leadership through activities such as pickleball, basketball, volleyball, clinics, tournaments, and other accessible sports programming. Ascend Beyond’s Civic Leadership & Advocacy work was designed to introduce young people to civic education, public speaking, community organizing, service, policy, and opportunities to take leadership roles within their communities.
The program model also expanded into practical learning areas including financial literacy, digital literacy, AI literacy, language development, workforce readiness, and educational and professional workshops. Across these areas, DTC helped build a model that connects participants with skills, mentors, networks, resources, and opportunities to lead. Rather than creating isolated workshops, the broader architecture was designed to support a progression from participation and skill building toward confidence, leadership, community responsibility, and longer term opportunity.
