Building CEP’s Government Relations & Policy Infrastructure
DTC advises CEP on engagement with elected officials, government agencies, legislative offices, and other public sector stakeholders, helping the organization move beyond approaching government only when an immediate funding opportunity arises. The strategy focuses on building longer term relationships around CEP’s programs, community needs, policy priorities, capital goals, and broader institutional vision.
DTC also helps translate the experiences of Caribbean LGBTQ+ immigrants and other communities served by CEP into structured policy frameworks. This means identifying where community challenges reflect broader structural barriers, developing evidence based policy priorities, preparing government briefing materials, and helping leadership communicate specific areas where government or institutional intervention may be necessary.
By connecting community experience, policy analysis, government engagement, and institutional positioning, DTC helps strengthen CEP’s ability to participate in public decision making as both a service provider and a policy stakeholder. The goal is not simply greater access to government, but a stronger institutional voice capable of influencing how public resources and policy respond to the communities CEP represents.
