Over $3.6M Secured To Build The First Caribbean LGBTQ+ Community Center

DTC worked with CEP to develop and execute a capital funding strategy that positioned the organization’s vision for a permanent community center as a public investment priority. The work connected CEP’s history of serving Caribbean LGBTQ+ immigrants and community members with a larger case for why permanent space was necessary to strengthen service delivery, community stability, cultural belonging, and long term organizational growth.

The capital strategy included government relations, funding requests, government briefings, strategic positioning, application development, community impact framing, and coordination around public sector funding opportunities. DTC helped CEP communicate not simply that it needed a building, but why investment in permanent community infrastructure would strengthen the organization’s ability to provide services, convene communities, expand programming, and establish a lasting institutional home.

Between 2025 and 2026, this strategy helped CEP secure more than $3.6 million in capital commitments toward the project. The result represents more than a funding milestone. It moves CEP closer to converting a decade of community based work into permanent infrastructure that can support the organization and the communities it serves for generations.
