$15K Secured for Afro and Indo Caribbean Civic Engagement Infrastructure
DTC supported CEP in positioning its work within the broader immigrant serving ecosystem and translating its community relationships into a competitive funding request. The grant strengthened CEP’s ability to reach immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities through outreach, education, engagement activities, and community based programming designed around the realities of the populations it serves.
The award also reinforced CEP’s role as both an LGBTQ+ organization and an immigrant serving institution, helping connect its community work with broader efforts to strengthen participation, access, and representation among immigrant New Yorkers. The funding provided additional capacity to engage community members who may face cultural, linguistic, institutional, or immigration related barriers to accessing information and civic resources.
Beyond the $15,000 award itself, the REMAP grant expanded CEP’s relationship with New York’s immigrant advocacy and service infrastructure. DTC helped connect grant development, immigrant engagement, community outreach, and organizational positioning, creating another pathway for CEP to grow its reach while strengthening its participation in citywide immigrant focused initiatives.
