$100K Secured from The Asian American Foundation for Research, Curriculum & Policy Development

DTC supported CEP in developing and positioning funding requests that connected the organization’s community based work with a broader need for stronger cultural education, research, and policy infrastructure. Across two years, the funding supported projects designed to document Caribbean histories, strengthen public understanding of Caribbean communities, and generate evidence around the mental health experiences and needs of immigrants.

A portion of the investment supported the development of a Caribbean history curriculum, creating an educational resource that can help preserve cultural knowledge, strengthen representation, and make Caribbean histories more accessible to students, community members, educators, and partner institutions. The funding also supported development of an immigrant mental health policy report, giving CEP a stronger research base for identifying barriers, documenting community experiences, and developing recommendations around access, culturally responsive care, and institutional response.

Beyond the cumulative $100,000 award, the investment strengthened CEP’s ability to move from service delivery into research, education, and policy development. DTC helped connect grant strategy with curriculum development, community research, data, and policy analysis, creating tools that can support future programming, advocacy, government engagement, partnerships, and long term institutional growth.
